When an alternative to the real thing is your best option, try a rubber stick dog toy for great fetching and chewing fun. These are safe, make less mess, and particularly helpful when you don’t live in an area with lots of trees (like us here in the desert!).
They’re not all brown, but your pet won’t mind because these have the shape and weight they’re after and as long as you’re throwing it, they’ll retrieve it, right? You can also use these indoors as long as you’re careful.
My favorite is the one that looks like a real branch because it’s a rubber and plush mix which is a bit softer for my little guy.
